Getaway - plan to escape - Help!!

So people, really need some suggestions and/or guidance.

Realized I am totally drained and need to take some time to clear my head. Sort of a hard reboot. A pal at work suggested I take some away, probably by myself. Go to some cabin/resort place with a bunch of books and relax, look at water or some type of scenery. He thinks may be good time to think and decide on some direction.

I had done some travelling lately and did enjoy some time away, however he pointed out those trips were too quick and lots of activity, even if just hanging with other people. (He's a good pal and knows all about family stuff plus witness to the ridiculousness of my office) He suggested I take a week where there is little requirement to go anywhere unless I really want to. He suggested this place - though obviously I focus on the summer/spring photos. It's in Oregon - which I've never been. It is a bit far though and the trip back and forth may be tiring. I started researching B&Bs in driving distance, maybe West Virginia or even Michigan. Though maybe I want something warmer or completely different scenery. So here are some things to consider:

  • Need place that could provide food and drink (including adult beverages of course) though like the option to do my own thing too.
  • Unsure about going alone, though I think I could. Though would like the option to interact with people if I choose. (There are some folks I could travel with in a relaxed manner - though everyone's schedules and finances are not flexible these days)
  • Driving distance is not a requirement - though probably want minimal travel hassel. If I fly want to limit connections, particulary if I have medium to long commute from airport to location.
  • Like the idea of some place I've never been before though not required. All my travel plans this year (so far) are return trips.
  • Probably should be in US, need to get my passport renewed.
  • Timing - probably at this point earliest I could do this is June, after Memorial Day weekend

So welcome any suggestions, thoughts, recommendations - would really love your input!!

Just do it...

So need to stop procrastinating. Lots to do and little energy to do it. Tired of weather back and forth. Need some pick me up in my mojo!

My little pumpkin and her big sis

Here is Mackenzie (aka Mac) now 2 months old! Spent part of Saturday with her, her sister Madi and mom Wendy. Fun day and she's a sweetie. Little fussy however once you give her some attention calms down. When I arrived, of course had to play with Madi, age 4, first. Trying to get some attention. After I got to hold Mackenzie, she fussed for a little bit, then calmed down and eventually slept. It may sound like bragging - however I did have the touch yesterday. Pic is off center cause she was in her swing, mesmerized with a mobile above. For equal time, big sister Madi with her cheesy smile. (Their aunt has started calling them Mac & Cheese)

Joining a cult - mind like water....

Part of my DC trip involved attending a seminar. A little over a year ago I started reading this book about productivity. The main idea is to free your mind from all the things you are trying to keep track of and develop systems you trust to track those. Then your mind is free to do what it does best - think! I've started part of the system and procrastinated on other parts and now trying to fully use it.
It does have an interesting following, mostly IT people though it's growing. Simpsons writers are fans as are some other artists. The conference I attended was called "Mastering Workflow" and it was very good. So nice to spend a day with people who actually wanted to be there. Though it wasn't cheap, definitly worth it. I did have a small bonus from work which helped me justify it. There are so many things I need to accomplish and want to work on and I'm a chronic procrastinator. Plus want to avoid the clutter bug.

My intention was to use as a kick start the week after. Though given recent events my time was constricted to get started. So this weekend I am digging in. (Though right now I'm procrastinating by writing this blog.) Had a good start at home, tomorrow will be the office.

The goal - get to a position of perfect readiness - a mind like water - a martial arts concept actually.

Yesterday I was bitchy

Due to many reasons however felt better after wine with dinner and then a little of this, should end most days with this:

In summary

  • Work basically sucks - so need new job in a new group. Totally becoming a bitch there. Which frankly they need someone to kick a little ass and I'm not the one to do it.
  • Realized I never really done a job search before, so will need help and bugging all y'all and you can stop hearing me complain.
  • Christine was in town this weekend so I did get out more which was fun. Saw Monsters vs. Aliens which was silly fun. Found perfect pillows on sale at Macys.
  • Had a great time in DC, west wing tour, shopping with Mrs R and her sweet Abby (totally should play Maggie in the Simpsons movie!), catching up with college pal Larry, hanging with Christine, Karna, Andrea, the Billottes etc.
  • Dad is doing better though had another stay in hospital, has follow up with Drs this week. Sister and I are heading back down for memorial day weekend which should be fun.
  • Sounds like Mom is almost healed up after her accident.
  • Uncle is finally back home safely in Maryland after his trek to Florida (why the family all went crazy at the same time - still unknown!)
  • Don't know what to do about my bday - totally want to do something fun/special/ relaxing, have til September.

Later peeps and love to y'all.
